July 2024

Well,..another financial year all finished and we’re straight into a new one!

July is looking fairly busy already, so that’s good.  Hopefully some more Apple products out over the next few months.

And we’re due to see the Apple Vision Pro available for purchase this month (does anyone have a spare $6000 or want to gift me one…hehe).

Will be interesting to see how they go over here.

A lot more iinet/Westnet and The Messaging Company scam emails seem to be doing the rounds - so be extra careful of those emails!

I hope everyone has a good month of July!

Apple has some tips on avoiding scams and things to watch out for.

Apple have recently updated a support article with some tips on avoiding scams and things to watch out for “phishing”, phony emails, calls and SMS’es.

And some helpful information on what to look for and be aware of. The more information people are armed with, then hopefully less money will be lost to scams etc.

So definitely worth a read.

You can access the support article here, and MacRumors has some information also here.

If you’re ever not sure of something best thing to do is hang up on the call, delete the SMS or email.

Still not sure then I’m happy to help also.

Some Apple Intelligence Features may require a subscription

Though only just announced, and not really out yet, according to rumours, some of the features for Apple Intelligence may require a paid subscription to use it - similar to how iCloud+ works.  So it may start off free for everyone to use, and then change down the track to limit some features to the “paid version”.

More information will show I’m sure once it’s readily available.

Also, according to some reports Apple turned down an AI partnership with Meta (Facebook’s parent company) due to privacy concerns. So that’s a good thing!

Have you considered if your computer stops working or could be down for quite a while?

If your computer crashes or is down for a long period time, or even if it’s going to be away for service work for a while, have you considered the down time this could cause to yourself, your work and/or business?

There is a way that an external drive can be set up beforehand where in these sort of circumstances you can still be up and running relatively easy - even if your computer has to go away for days to be repaired.

It’s a relatively cheap and easy process.

If you would like to find out more about how this can be set up for yourself or your business please feel free to drop me an email or call to discuss.

Be aware of “Fake webpages” advising you need to update.

So there is a bit of a rise on the number of webpages or fake links that will try to trick you into calling a number or clicking a link to “update” some piece of software.

I’ve written a page with a bit more info on it here
