So with a month gone already, we’re now into February for 2025! I hope everyone had a good start to the year and all is going well.
According to rumours, we may see the MacBook Air upgraded this month (or next) to the M4 processor. So that will be one to keep an eye on.
Also more scams doing the rounds, so definitely always things to look out for and keep on top of. Some more news on that front to follow shortly also, so keep an eye on your Inbox for news there.
And of course, Valentine’s Day this month as well, so plenty of flowers and chocolates will change hands I’m sure.
Enjoy the month!
Apple announce iPhone 16e
Apple have just released the new iPhone 16e - a replacement for the iPhone SE (3rd Revision). With an A18 Chip and Apple Intelligence. It has a larger 6.1” OLED display with a notch for FaceID, but no longer has the home button for people that still loved it. It’s also the first iPhone to have an Apple designed 5G modem called the C1. It has a single rear 48-megapixel Fusion Camera, an Action button instead of the Ring/Silent switch and charges with USB-C.
Pricing starts from $999. Available in Black or White.
You can see more about it on Apple’s page here. They also have a 12 minute video announcing it available here.
Apple due to release “something” next week
Apple have teased in a post for a press release next week. The post teased with “Get ready to meet the newest member of the family” - but not much more info than that. Rumours suggest it could be the next update to the iPhone SE. Or the M4 added to some of the other range.
Thankfully we only have to wait until Wednesday 19h (Thursday 20th for us in Australia) to find out.
So what will be the first updates for 2025? Well hopefully we’ll know soon!
Apple release new “Invites” App for iPhone (on iOS18)
Apple has just released a new app called "Invites", designed for iPhones running iOS 18 with an active iCloud+ account. The app allows users to create beautiful event invitations, customise various details, send them out, and easily track RSVPs along with other event-related information.
It’s a handy tool for organising events, and while it’s off to a solid start, there’s potential for further improvements over time.
I’v had a bit of a play with it, and it’s very easy to use and actually looks like it could work quite well.
For more details, you can check out the official announcement from Apple here, and MacRumors has a comprehensive overview available here.
To download Invites, head directly to the App Store via this link.
Be aware of “Fake webpages” advising you need to update.
So there is a bit of a rise on the number of webpages or fake links that will try to trick you into calling a number or clicking a link to “update” some piece of software.
I’ve written a page with a bit more info on it here
