February 2024

Hello February! Into the shortest month of the year and off with a bang!

Apple released the Apple Vision Pro to the public for purchase at the start of this month - only available in the US at the moment. But may see some of it available down under later in the year perhaps. Or early next year.

Next month in March we may see some more computer upgrades as tends to be common for that month.

Enjoy your month!

Apple announce PQ3 a new “groundbreaking” security protocol for iMessage

Apple have announced they are introducing a new security protocol called PQ3 which is a new post-quantum cryptographic protocol for iMessage. Basically this means that messages sent using iMessage will have an even higher level of security once the update is out and available. This will be added to add to protect it even more going forward into the future.

Increases in protection are always a good thing.

Worth a bit of a read just to understand it a bit more if you’re interested in security. You can read more about it here.

Apple Vision Pro is released in the US on Feb 2nd

For the start of the month all eyes have been on the Apple Vision Pro and most of the “Apple News” has been taken up with that.

Unfortunately for most of us in Australia we weren’t able to get it, as it was only released in the US and quite expensive.

But if you’re interested in it, there’s quite a few interesting videos available on it.

Hopefully over time we’ll see a cheaper version announced and it available here in Australia

Have you considered if your computer stops working or could be down for quite a while?

If your computer crashes or is down for a long period time, or even if it’s going to be away for service work for a while, have you considered the down time this could cause to yourself, your work and/or business?

There is a way that an external drive can be set up beforehand where in these sort of circumstances you can still be up and running relatively easy - even if your computer has to go away for days to be repaired.

It’s a relatively cheap and easy process.

If you would like to find out more about how this can be set up for yourself or your business please feel free to drop me an email or call to discuss.

Be aware of “Fake webpages” advising you need to update.

So there is a bit of a rise on the number of webpages or fake links that will try to trick you into calling a number or clicking a link to “update” some piece of software.

I’ve written a page with a bit more info on it here
